ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the $500 Book Scholarship, the student must:
Be a United States citizen (subject to verification)
Parent/Legal Guardian and/or Student must be a resident of NYC
Be a high school senior planning to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution* OR
Current college student at an accredited postsecondary institution*
Complete/submit the application
Submit 500+ word typed essay answering
Beyond the Transcript: Everyone has strengths that don’t show up on a school transcript.
In your essay, share one of your personal strengths that others might overlook. Share how it developed and how it influences your daily life, and how it is helping to shape your future aspirations.
(Essay should be no less than 500 words)
Complete/submit application and essay by June 30, 2026
*Approved accredited institutions are defined as accredited, post-secondary two or four-year colleges or universities in the United States. Proof of enrollment is a condition of eligibility for a scholarship award and will be required before funds will be disbursed.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDING
If you are awarded the scholarship from the Williams-Daniels Family Foundation, in order to receive scholarship funds you must provide:
Verification of accredited post-secondary institution enrollment.
Verification of United States citizen
Verification of Parent/Legal Guardian and/or Student residency of NYC
